It’s important for all colleagues to know their rights and fully understand the realities of union representation. Every colleague has the right to:
- Hear from all sides and learn all the facts about unionization, including facts the union might not want colleagues to know.
- Talk or refuse to talk about the union with fellow colleagues in non-patient care areas (as long as these discussions do not interfere with colleagues’ work or the work of others).
- Talk with your manager, fellow colleagues, and others about the union.
- Ask your leader or HR any questions you may have about the union issue. If your leader does not know the answer, they will find out for you or put you in contact with someone who does.
- Protect your privacy; you are not required to give anyone your personal information.
Most importantly, if you have questions about the union topic, Essentia’s position or anything else, please feel free to bring these questions to someone in leadership.
